Opened in 2017, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium most notably hosts the NFL's Atlanta Falcons and the MLS' Atlanta United FC, in addition to a wide variety of concerts and events throughout each year. The tour will consist of learning about the stadium's signature feature (its retractable roof), as well as the history of the surrounding neighborhoods and the Lightning community where the stadium now sits. When the FIFA World Cup comes to North America in 2026, the Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta will host eight matches, including a semifinal match. This site visit will be hosted by members of the AMB Sports + Entertainment group, the ownership entity held by Arthur Blank, one of the co-founders of Atlanta-based home improvement retailer The Home Depot, which is one of the largest companies in the world.

Tour Atlanta with Tom Houck, a veteran of the Civil Rights Movement. Among other things, Tom participated in the Selma to Montgomery march (and was expelled from high school for doing so), and then he served as an aide to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Tom is an expert on Atlanta, its politics, and its people. He will guide you on a bus tour of famous monuments, places, and people who made Atlanta the hub of the civil rights movement.

"It’s your chance to learn what it’s like to serve in state government in one of the battleground states. Scott Holcomb (a member of the Georgia House) will provide a guided tour of the State Capitol, which has been the seat of state government since 1889. The Governor and Secretary of State have offices inside the Capitol, and the State Senate and State House are located on the third floor. The tour will include a mix of history as well as commentary on current politics followed by a group discussion in one of the historic meeting rooms."

Tour Delta’s world class maintenance and repair facility, which includes a guided tour of the engine repair shop and airframe hangar. Visitors can see firsthand the repair of some of the most expensive jet engines and aircraft in the world. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will offer guided, in-person tours of the Emergency Operations Center for CDC programs and their partners. During tours, visitors will walk through the 24,000-square-foot facility and hear from experts in the Division of Emergency Operations about how CDC uses both the EOC and emergency management principles to support CDC’s responses to public health threats. Fellows will also have the opportunity to hear from CDC experts about a current outbreak response.

Tony Clark, the Public Affairs Director at the Jimmy Carter Presidential Library, will provide a personal tour of the Library and the Carter Center. President Carter was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work at the Carter Center, whose mission is to wage peace, fight disease, and build hope.
