We Can. But Should We?
Exploring Ethics, Rights & the Public
Good
The conference theme is a powerful expression of the British-American Project's (BAP) mission and values. It goes beyond the surface to interrogate the profound ethical implications inherent in leadership and decision-making. This theme is not merely a call to ponder possibilities; it is an urgent invitation to weigh those possibilities against a backdrop of moral and ethical imperatives. It challenges delegates and fellows to navigate the complex and often murky waters where capability intersects with responsibility, especially in matters impacting human rights and the public good. Moreover, the theme champions a broad, inclusive dialogue. It recognizes that the decisions of today's leaders echo far beyond their immediate context, affecting societies and ecosystems at a global level. By doing so, it echoes the diverse, collaborative ethos of the BAP fellowship, bringing together varied perspectives and disciplines in a united effort to address some of the most pressing ethical dilemmas of our time. This theme is a clarion call for responsible, ethical leadership in an increasingly complex and interconnected world.

Hello all! The American South has played a major part in US history, particularly for black people, and after conference you will have the opportunity to tour some of the areas important to the civil rights movement that are close to the conference location of Atlanta. You will visit sites in Montgomery, Selma and Birmingham Alabama and hear from Montgomery Mayor Steven Reed. The trip begins Monday, November 11th directly after the government session, returning Tuesday afternoon November 12th with stops at the airport and the conference hotel.
Full itinerary will be provided closer to the conference, but preliminary plans are to visit the Rosa Parks Museum in Montgomery, Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma and other key sites along the journey - even the location of the famous fight at the dock in Montgomery last year, as that is a seminal moment in recent history for many.
The estimated baseline cost of the trip is $250, which includes transportation and shared hotel room. If you would like to have your own room, the cost will of course be a bit higher. On the sign-up form (link below), you will be asked to pay $175, the estimated transportation cost. We will provide the hotel booking link as soon as it becomes available.
